  • Kimbra Releases New Song “replay!”

  • New Zealand alt-pop singer-songwriter Kimbra Lee Johnson, aka Kimbra released the second single called “replay!” from her upcoming fourth studio album “A Reckoning” on November 17, 2022.

She first performed the song at Dubai's Expo 2020.
The track was written by Kimbra Lee Johnson and BRUX. Produced by Kimbra, BRUX, and Taylor Graves.
Kimbra told Paper Magazine about the song, “It covers them all: Anger, chaos, conflict, violence, sex, heartbreak, protest and self-assertion. A Reckoning is all about facing who you are and owning it for the world to see.”
The accompanying music video was directed by Colin Solal Cardo.
She said of the video, “I've lived this shit. It's not the first time confronting the stuff in my head, the challenge is just making it palpable and real for the viewer. I loved every second of this video, it was very liberating.”
  • The new album is set to be released on January 27, 2023. It is her first album in five years since the 2018 album “Primal Heart”.
Kimbra shared about he album on social media, “i like paradoxical emotions. they're more real. you can love someone deeply while also be hurt by something they did and feel anger and resentment.
even missing someone is rarely as simple as that. it may also be tainted with self-doubt, not feeling 'enough'. it could be tied to lust, or it could be the kind of longing accompanied by angst and regret.
i want to spend time in those strange places. i want my music to look like my internal landscapes; and that terrain is laced with all kinds of chaos, complexity, threat and outright distractions. but it is also met with a deep knowing. a voice that holds it all together. your OWN voice. your gut. your Spirit. the part of you that does not need to dress up or shrink under a facade, that raw trajectory within that tells us the next step.
that part of us that takes the painful and makes something beautiful out of it for the world. i think our world is in dire need of a collective healing. but it won't happen until we look at ourselves face to face, as we are, amidst all the prejudice, the phobias, the addictions, the fears that live within.
A RECKONING will be our 'loving look at the Real'”
