sunsetto Releases New Song “drugs are for fun”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter sunsetto released a new song “drugs are for fun” on July 29, 2022.
It is his first single in almost a year since the 2021 song “downtown”.
The song is accompanied by the Griffin O'Toole-directed music video, which was shot in n Nova Scotia, Canada.
It was written by sunsetto. Produced by Danes Blood and BEN10K.
sunsetto said of the song “I wrote the song in LA last November about coping mechanisms that formed from seemingly harmless fun with partying but that led to some important conversations and changes in my life. The song is disguised as an upbeat catchy pop anthem but, at its core, is a sobering conversation between two people. Nobody is perfect, and we’re not all lucky enough to have someone in our life that cares enough to tell us we need to make a change.”
- Also, he shared on social media, “'Drugs are for fun' is an ironic title since the intention is to de-glamorize addiction. The song is about being honest with someone you care about. It’s the sobering conversation when the party’s over. I don’t like being preachy, but drugs have played a profound role in my life and in my art, so they’ve become an unconscious theme. There’s an interesting dichotomy between people that do drugs for fun and people that do drugs to function, or to not get sick. And the more you experiment, the latter becomes more inevitable.”
