LEXXE Releases New Song “Rita Hayworth”
- New York-based singer-songwriter Alexis Lucena, aka LEXXE released a new song “Rita Hayworth” along with a music video.
The song follows up “Your Mona Lisa”, which was released back in April.
It was written by Alexis Lucena, and Dominic Florio, who also produced the track. The video was directed by Alexa San Román.
Alexis Lucena explained of the song, “Rita Hayworth was born Margarita Carmen Casino, and much of her Hispanic heritage was 'Hollywood' washed way, her iconic hair color was a result of theat and yet she continued to glow and dominate her field (that rhythm didn't come from out of thin air!). I relate to her in many ways, and respect her hard work in time where woman didn't have many choices when it came to their own image and career. Not many people know but she passed in NYC in the 80s being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I've had many family members suffer with similar things as well as Alzheimer's, but one thing thats so poignant is that what they often of remember is what they truly loved, be it music, dance, art, or food. I hope Rita remembered how special she was, and I hope to maybe introduce her to some generations with this song.”
She continued, “When I wrote this song with Dominic (Florio) I cried on the way home with it on repeat because I felt I had finally captured a feeling and a moment in my life I had been trying to for so long. The video echoes that feeling until the realization that not all that glitters is gold, the 'velvet dagger'.”
