Evil Tongues Releases New Song “Energy For This”
Canadian alt-pop duo Evil Tongues, consisting of Jennifer Di and Mike Allain, released a new song “Energy For This” on April 29 , 2022.
The song is their second single following the debut song “Fine”, which was released back in January.
It was written by Jennifer Di and Mike Allain, with production by Nygel Asselin.
“The song was inspired by a previous relationship where I had moved provinces to be with my partner. Over the course of a year, the relationship gradually fell apart,” Jennifer Di explained of the song. “I became a shell of the person I used to be, dealing with isolation, anxiety, depression and insomnia. This track focuses on where I was mentally in the months leading up to me deciding to leave the province and ultimately end the relationship. Musically upbeat and positive, you can hear the juxtaposition of the anger and desperation I felt by hearing "Energy For This" on your preferred platform.”- She said of a lyric video, “We decided to use a video game health meter in this song's visuals, as its imagery strongly relates to the experience of being in a turbulent relationship. Sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down, and sometimes the relationship runs out of lives. The line Needles wearing thin, records over played refers to this one perfect day, amongst all the chaos of our relationship ending, where my ex and I were laying on the floor listening to records and talking for hours. It was probably the last moment where I really felt like we were the people that had fallen in love with each other, yet there was an underlying sadness to it, because I think we both knew we were nearing our end.”
