Poppy Ajudha Premieres New Song “PLAYGOD” on BBC Radio 1
London-based singer-songwriter Poppy Ajudha premiered a new song “PLAYGOD” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
She first performed the song at the BBC Radio Theatre for 6 Music Festival 2021.
The song will appear on her upcoming debut album “THE POWER IN US”, which is set to be released on April 22, 2022.
It was written by Poppy Ajudha, Tom Ford and INBLOOM. Produce by Karma Kid.
Last November, Poppy Ajudha told The Face about the song, “I wrote PLAYGOD when the abortion bill went through in Alabama and I was like: we’re in the 21st century, why is this happening?! Why do men feel like they have this God complex that they can weaponise, [with] religion or anything, to push a political agenda to control women? It didn’t make sense to me.”
She told Clara Amfo, “That's funny, because I've never really listened to, which is weird. Because I think I'm just angry with this one. And it just felt like the only direction was like hardcore. And I love guitars and there's that influence and also love distortion. So just like distorted guitars, replicates the emotion I think in the lyrics.”- oYlLT6MeINw

The debut album comprises 12-track, featuring guest appearance from Nubya Garcia.
She said of the album, “The album, my debut album is coming out on the 22nd of April, my birthday. And it's called 'THE POWER IN US'. It's kind of just about everything that was in my head at that time and I think still now. There's a lot of feminism a lot of social change, songs, the lyrics are all very much. Social and political commentary about women's rights, about mental health, about politics, the UK, London. So it feels like a really special project. I didn't even want one love song on that, because it was like I don't want to dilute what it is I'm talking about here and that I feel so strongly about. So it feels really special. I'm excited.”-
