Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Gang of Youths Releases New Song “in the wake of your leave”
Australian alt-rock band Gang of Youths unveiled a new song “in the wake of your leave” on January 7, 2022.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming third studio album “angel in realtime.”, following “The Man Himself” and “Tend the Garden”.
“I wanted to reflect on how I became dependent on grief for solace and inspiration,” frontman David Le'aupepe said of the song. “The cycle from numbness to acceptance to yearning plays a role in my approach to grieving my dad's death. As a result, most of the time, I feel a bit futile as a person.”
The new album comprises 13-track, produced by Gang of Youths. It is set to be released on February 25, 2022.
The album is inspired by frontman Dave Le'aupepe's late father. The band said of the album as, “about the life and legacy of Dave [Le'aupepe]'s father, indigenous identity, death, grief and God. And also the Angel, Islington.”
The band embarks on a world tour in support of the album. The tour kicks off at Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland on March 3, 2022.
