Grimes Unveils New Song “My Name Is Dark”
- Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes has dropped a new song “My Name Is Dark”, produced and engineered by Grimes herself.
The track will appear on her upcoming fifth studio album “Miss Anthropocene”, which is set to be released on February 21, 2020.
“My Name Is Dark” is originally titled “That’s What the Drugs Are For”, which was first heard as a small snippet for Apple’s “Behind the Mac” ad campaign.
According to Grimes the song is about her insomnia. She tweeted, "wanna drop song soon ish so wud u pref super dark heavy ballad about fighting balrog in the center of earth that is a sex metaphor or a very not pg13 ethereal shadow of colossus demon nu metal song abt insomnia? not 1st single or indicative of album direction, wuts the vibe?"
The new album is her first LP in five years. She said, “It’s called Miss Anthropocene. It’s a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world. She’s composed of Ivory and Oil.”
