King Princess Performs “1950” & “Hit the Back” on Saturday Night Live
- American singer-songwriter King Princess appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform “1950” and “Hit the Back” on November 23rd. This marks her musical guest debut on the sketch show.
“1950” is her debut song and was released in 2018. She paid tribute to the 1952 novel “I was reading a lot of gay literature and there was one book, The Price of Salt that really stuck with me because it’s just a beautiful story, and I think what I loved about it was it took place in the ‘50s and the way that queer people were allowed to be public was so censored it and it was all about body language and this kind of icy interaction because you had to hide yourself and so I was interested in the parallel between the metaphor of 1950 being how queer love looks in public and how it’s very similar to having a very cold relationship.”
“Hit the Back” is included on her debut album “Cheap Queen”, which was released in late October.
King Princess will embark on North American Tour in January and February. The tour kicks off at Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver on January 16, 2020.
Also she will support Harry Styles' European tour in April 2020.
