Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Blossoms Premieres New Song “Your Girlfriend” on BBC Radio 1
British alt-pop band Blossoms has released two new songs “Your Girlfriend” and “Torn Up” from their forthcoming third album.
Both songs follow up their sophomore album "Cool Like You", which was released last April. Produced by James Skelly, Rich Turvey and Blossoms themselves, recorded at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool.
Especially, “Your Girlfriend” was premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. It is inspired by Talking Heads and accompanied the music video. The clip sees the band dress up as their favorite horror characters, Teen Wolf, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Bride of Frankenstein and Mummy. Directed by James Slater.
Frontman Tom Ogden said of the song, “I think I saw it on the telly or maybe heard it on another song. Someone was saying they’re in love with their friend’s girlfriend and I thought ooh that’s a good, strange take on a love song. A different angle to go at and it’s obviously not about me, just to be clear! I was listening to a lot of Talking Heads at the time, and I think that shines through in the way the song grooves. These are some of my favourite lyrics I’ve ever written, there’s a lot of humour in there.”- U73Qn-NCQIU
