Astrid S Premieres New Music Video for “Emotion”
Norwegian singer-songwriter Astrid S has dropped a new music video for “Emotion”.
The song was released in earlier October as the lead single from her upcoming debut album (yet-untitled). It was written by Ali Payami, Astrid S and Jakob Jerlström.
The video was directed by Andreas Öhman, who filmed the clip in Iceland and inspired by 2011's film "Black Swan", which was directed by Darren Aronofsky, starring Natalie Portman.
“I wanted the video to show a loving but toxic relationship,” Astrid S explained. “I also wanted it to show a different side of the song, how you sometimes can be your own biggest enemy, being self-destructive.”
“To me the song could be about any kind of relationship,” she continued. “It could be a friend, family member, boyfriend, girlfriend or yourself. I hope this video makes it possible for people to interpret it in their own way and relate to it with their own story.”
The debut album is expected to be released in early 2019.- Astrid S said of the song:
“After improvising for a little while, we picked out the melodies we liked the most and that we felt kind of painted the mood I wanted in the song.
We really liked the word “Emotion,” so after we had the melodies we sat down to write the lyrics. We wanted something conversational that said something about me and my childhood. We wanted it to be vague as well, and not to be like a very literal and obvious concept. Just explaining a feeling that I had and wanted to express. I remember telling them about my favorite movies, Whiplash and Black Swan, and that the dynamic between the characters was somehow related to what I had experienced. It was very refreshing to write about something that felt close to my heart and that had been weighing over me. It was also very exciting that Jacob and Ali had different stories and their own take on the lyrics.” - source : Idolator
