Trevor James Premieres New Song “Maxine” on SoundCloud
- Los Angeles-based alt-funk guitarist and singer-songwriter Trevor James has delivered a new song “Maxine” via SoundCloud. The song was premiered exclusively on Afropunk.
The track will appear on his upcoming fifth album of the same title, which is expected to be released this summer.
He performed the song and other songs from the new album at JITV HQ in Los Angeles last month.
His sound is a blend with R&B, jazz and pop like Lenny Kravitz and Jimi Hendrix.
Trevor James said of the song;
“My vision for this song is something that can be relatable to the everyday listener, situations that might have happened to them or might know someone that it has happened to. This song actually came about after a couple of beers with some friends talking about crazy relationships and my friend had mentioned a girl that threw his stuff out and was extremely crazy so I ask “What was her name” and he said “Maxine”. I said to myself “wow that would be a cool song.”
- Originally, Trevor James has posted some bass and guitar cover songs on YouTube.
He released a debut album "Show Time" in 2014. The album featured pop songs unlike recently his sound.
In 2016, he changed the music style and released two jazz fusion albums “The Dreamer” and “World”. Followed by, he released the fourth album "My Train" in 2017.
