Hatchie Premieres New Music Video for “Sugar & Spice”
- Brisbane-based Australian singer-songwriter Harriet Pillbeam, aka Hatchie has announced her debut EP "Sugar & Spice", and shared the title track with a accompanying music video.
The song "Sugar & Spice" was written by Joseph Agius and Harriette Pilbeam. The music video, directed by Joe Agius, was premiered exclusively on Stereogum.
Hatchie said of the video, "Joe and I spent about an hour filming with the guys and two days drawing for the video. It’s such a fun short song, so we wanted something simple and colorful, and less serious than our previous videos. Joe came up with the concept and we took inspiration from our old school scrapbooks."
- Harriet Pillbeam has spent the past few years playing in Aussie bands Babaganouj and Go Violets. But she decided to a new project as solo artist under the name Hatchie.
She has already released “Try” and “Sure” from the EP. She told triple j about the new song “Sugar & Spice”, "I wanted to write a really happy love song [because] I wrote all these sad songs and it was getting a bit too deep and dark for me. I recorded it in two sessions: in Brisbane first but I wasn't really sure where I wanted to take it so sat on it for about a year, then after 'Try' came out i went and finished it in Melbourne."
The EP “Sugar & Spice” is set to be released on May 25, 2018.
She embarks "Sugar & Spice" EP tour in support of the debut EP at Worker's Club in Melbourne on July 12th.
