MNEK Premieres New Music Video for “Paradise”
British singer-songwriter Uzoechi "Uzo" Emenike, aka MNEK dropped a new music video for "Paradise" directed by Ciaran Lyons.
The song was released on July 11 and received its first play during MistaJam BBC Radio 1Xtra. It was written by Uzoechi Emenike, Lem Springsteen, John Ciafone and Ultra Naté Wyche.
The track features a sampling of the guitar hook from Ultra Nate's 1997 dance hit "Free".
Recently, MNEK appeared in Charli XCX's cameo-heavy music video for "Boys".
About the new video, MNEK said;
“The concept of the video is a very beautiful man by the name of Dennis walking this alternate universe a.k.a. Paradise, and it, in its own way, just shows how beautiful things can be, how dark things can be — but how we get to a happy place in the end. I think police brutality is something that shouldn't be a thing. Police are supposed to protect us, and in the majority of cases they do, but unfortunately sometimes they abuse their power. It's a shame it's the world we live in, and it was important to show that in the video.”- Ciaran Lyons explained about the video;
"What grabbed me was the underlying idea of the different responses elicited by the chaos of the modern world. The desire to escape from the real world into a fantasy paradise vs. the possibility of standing strong and separate from all the madness and cruelty, in the hope of preserving something better." -
