Jim Carrey is back to the big screen in the new thriller “Dark Crimes”. The movie is his first lead role since 2014’s "Dumb and Dumber To"
The film is based on David Grann's article "True Crime: A Postmodern Murder Mystery", about convicted murderer Krystian Bala, published by The New Yorker in 2008.
Directed by Alexandros Avranas, who created his first film "Without" in 2008, which won seven awards at the 49th Film Festival of Thesaloniki and suggested for the Best Director Award at the International Film Festival of Milan.
In addition to Jim Carrey, the film stars Agata Kulesza, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kati Outinen, Zbigniew Zamachowski, and Marton Csokas.
Jim Carrey plays a Polish-American detective. Originally, the film titled was "True Crimes". But it changed to "Dark Crimes" in January 2018.
Principal photography began on November 12, 2015 in Kraków, Poland, wrapping up on December 13, 2015. The film had its world premiere at the Warsaw Film Festival on October 12, 2016.
The film is set to be released on May 18, 2018.- Synopsis:
Tadek (Jim Carrey) is a detective who takes on a case involving the murder of a businessman. To his and everyone's surprise the case is identical to a character's murder in a recently published novel by a man named Kozlow (Marton Csokas).
