  • Duran Duran Releases New Album “FUTURE PAST”: Streaming

  • British pop band Duran Duran, consisting of Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Simon Le Bon, released their 15th studio album “FUTURE PAST” on October 22, 2021.

It is their first album in six years since the 2015 album “Paper Gods”. Also it is a 40th anniversary since their self-titled debut album.
John Taylor said, “We would never have expected to be still making music together after all this time. We were just kids and we came together in punk rock.”
The album comprises 12-track (Deluxe edition 15-track), co-produced by Duran Duran, Mark Ronson, Giorgio Moroder and Erol Alkan.
The band started making album in 2018, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to delay the project for 10 months.
Nick Rhodes said, “In some ways it was actually advantageous to have had a break because we'd never had that experience before, and we could look at it with fresh eyes and listen with fresh ears. It's got a whole new feel for us.”
John Taylor continued, “Many of the songs are about emotional crises, or long-term intimacy issues, let's call them. When we came back after lockdown, I felt that those lyrics, particularly 'Invisible,' spoke to the moment, because the last 18 months have really been about intimacy politics.”
  • The album features guest appearances from Tove Lo, Ivorian Doll, CHAI, and Mike Garson. Also Blur's Graham Coxon contributes guitar.
“It's going to sound like Duran Duran, and it's going to sound different. But I mean that in the way that Notorious sounded different from Seven and the Ragged Tiger, and the way that Paper Gods was so different from All You Need Is Now, which was so different from Red Carpet Massacre,” Simon Le Bon said."And that, to us, was the way you should do it.”
“It was such an honor for me to join these legends on this amazing album and tune. Getting to sing along to Simon's voice was pretty surreal,” Tove Lo said in a statement. “I'm also a big fan of Erol Alkan so I was very excited when I heard he was producing the track! It's that kind of emotional song that keeps building in desperation and energy so you wanna dance and cry to it. My favorite kind!”
CHAI said, “We are full of joy! When Duran Duran asked us to join their new song, we listened to it and thought “this is lively, rock, cool and fun,” and we danced! We added our voices to their rock sound, making it even more 'MORE JOY'! Because we are MORE JOY. Thank you Duran Duran!”
