Hunter Hayes Returns With New Song “The One That Got Away”
- American country music singer-songwriter Hunter Hayes returned with a new song “The One That Got Away” for the first time in two years.
The track is the first single off of his upcoming tenth studio album “Red Sky (Part II)”.
It was written by Hunter Hayes, Sam Ellis and Sara Haze. Produced by Andrew Wells and Hunter Hayes. The accompanying music video was directed by Ryan Sheehy.
"I wrote 'The One That Got Away' after having a certain chapter in my life end abruptly,” Hunter Hayes said of the song. “At first, I saw that change as a bad thing, even though I'd played a part in the ending. The song came from realizing that certain things I was holding onto so tightly were slowly destroying me, and from feeling weightless and free once I finally let go. I wanted to write something that people could get a speeding ticket to and feel so lucky that they've gotten away from whatever wasn't good for them—whether that be a town or a job or a relationship or whatever else."
He performed the song on Good Morning America on January 14th, 2021.
The new album is expected to be released in 2021. It has his first LP in two years.
