Mark Jacobs Shares New Music Video for Coldplay's “Church” from Documentary “Jesse's Story”
American film maker Mark Jacobs has shared a new music video for British rock band Coldplay's “Church” from his 2009 documentary “Jesse's Story”.
This story tells the tragedy turned inspirational life of American surfer Jesse Billauer through his time reflecting on his life at the spot where his life completely changed.
Jesse Billauer suffered an accident at the age of 17 in 1996 during surfing, hitting his head on a shallow sandbar after being knocked off his surfboard by a wave. He was broken his neck, rendering him a quadriplegic.
However, he eventually returned to surfing, adapting his surfing technique and equipment to the situation of his current condition.
He founded the nonprofit Life Rolls On and is taking a leading role in awareness and activism for spinal cord injury related quality of life programs.
The song “Church” is included on Coldplay's eighth studio album “Everyday Life” released in 2019.
Mark Jacobs shared on social media, “20 years of Happy Birthdays knowing and being impacted by this brother I call my friend. Grateful for all we have shared and endured over the years. Happy Birthday Jesse!”- kp1XAwNftTo

Jesse Billauer said, “This video was created by my good friend Mark Jacobs who actually was the same guy who made the documentary movie on my life called 'Jesse's Story'. This short film piece was inspired by Coldplay song “Church”. It's a reflection of my past before my accident and how I'm making the most of the present day as well. It's an emotional piece because it was filmed at the exact same location as the place that broke my neck and the place that changed my life forever at the young age of 17. Sometimes we must reflect on the past to see how lucky we are in the present and how grateful/hopeful we are for the future. 🙏🏻🤙🏻”
Coldplay said, “This short film is about our brother Jesse Billauer, one of the most inspiring people we've ever met. He broke his neck surfing aged 17 and went on to found Life Rolls On - truly one of the most awesome organisations on the planet 💙 c, g, w, j & p.”- source : YouTube
