Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Gorillaz Released New Song “Strange Timez” featuring Robert Smith
Back in January, British virtual band Gorillaz announced their new project “Song Machine: Season One - Strange Timez”.
The album is being released in a new format, one song every month. To date, the band has shared “Momentary Bliss” featuring slowthai and Slaves, “Désolé” featuring Fatoumata Diawara, “Aries” featuring Peter Hook and Georgia, “How Far?” featuring Skepta and the late Tony Allen, “Friday 13th” featuring Octavian, and “PAC-MAN” featuring ScHoolboy Q.
On September 9th, the band released a new song “Strange Timez” as episode six. This time, the band worked with British singer-songwriter Robert Smith.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jamie Hewlett, and co-directed by Tim McCourt, Max Taylor.
“We did this tune with Robert completely by email,” Damon Albarn explained on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Robert Smith added, “I loved it! I thought it was excellent. I felt ripples in the force and I thought, ‘I better get this done’.”
The new album is set to be released on October 23, 2020.
Also, the band will showcase the new project with a live-streamed performance, “Song Machine Live”, on December 12 and 13.- source : NME
