Labrinth Returns with New Song “S.W.M.F.”
British singer-songwriter Labrinth returned with a new song “S.W.M.F.” on May 4, 2025.
The song is his first solo music in two years since the 2023 album “Ends & Begins”.
“S.W.M.F.” is an acronym for “Star Wars, motherfucker”.
The song captures the process of recovery and growth from inner turmoil.
He sings, “Yeah, I’ve been feelin’ sorry for myself / Yeah, I’ve been too sorry for myself / Pity got me locked in / I’ve been way too hard on myself / I’ve been way too hard / Time to spring back on some king shit.”
Labrinth co-wrote the song with Muzhda Zemar-McKenzie and produced it.
The accompanying music video was directed by Brendan Walter.
Labrinth said of the song in a statement, “S.W.M.F. is about being the protagonist of your own misery and coming out alive and better for it.”
He added, “The force is strong with this one.”- On social media, he teased his conceptual approach for his new era. It is called “Cosmic Opera”.
Labrinth shared, “I don't know shit about classical. I just know how to copy it. It's like Rolling Stones fucking with Muddy Waters. They didn't know nothing about the blues. But they fuck with the sound. I'm coming home. I know it. I'm coming home. I'll be home soon.” -
