  • The Slow Readers Club Releases New Song “Animals”

  • Last month, Manchester-based rock band The Slow Readers Club, consisting of Aaron Starkie (vocals) Kurtis Starkie (guitar) James Ryan (bass) and David Whitworth (drums), announced their upcoming seventh studio album “Out Of A Dream” would be released on March 14, 2025.

The album is their first body of work in two years since the 2023 album “Knowledge Freedom Power”.
From the album, the band released a new song “Animals” along with a music video on November 20, 2024,
The song os the second single off of the album, following “Technofear” released last month.
It was written by Aaron Starkie, David Whitworth, James Ryan, and Kurt Starkie. Produced by Joseph Cross.

The band frontman Aaron Starkie said of the song, “'Animals' is us doing full on euphoric guitar pop, full of energy and drama. It's a celebration of intense, all-consuming primal love. Infatuation as a magic spell. It's about a longing for togetherness and sanctuary, as an escape from the bleak reality of the outside world.”
  • He continued, “When we were writing it felt like a big nostalgic stadium ballad, leaning into that with lines like 'just like an old-time crooner, I sing a song to win your heart' and 'come join me for communion, come join me dancing in the dark.' It'll be a natural addition to the more febrile sections of our live set.”
