Leah Jane Releases New Song “Scarlet Letter”
Canadian indie-pop singer-songwriter Leah Jane released a new song “Scarlet Letter” on March 6, 2024 via Spooky Action Records.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming debut EP “Nottingham Drive”, following the release of Paper Crown back in January.
Leah Jane shared on social media, “Surprise :) another song! this one's for the girlies who struggle to open up, for people who have felt like their vulnerabilities have been used against them, or just for a good cry.”
The track was written by Alex Biro and Leah McKenney. Produced by Mike Tompa and Alex Biro.
Leah Jane describes the song as a reflection on the isolation and judgment faced after revealing her vulnerabilities.
The track discusses the consequences of being ostracized and labeled, shedding light on themes of slut-shaming and the hypocrisy of certain self-proclaimed feminists.- She said, “It's a song about slut shaming, about the modern fake-feminist, nail-painting fuck-boy,” highlighting the song's relevance to contemporary social issues.
The debut EP is expected to be released in 2024. - source : Apple Music
