British singer-songwriter Mae Stephens released a new song “Make Me Your Mrs” on February 29, 2024.
The song follows up “ADHD”, which was released back in January.
This time, she wrote the song inspired by the Leap Year Proposal tradition, also known as “Bachelor's Day” or “Ladies' Privilege”, which originated in Ireland.
The track was written and produced by Morgan Avenue, and co-written by Morien van der Tang.
Mae Stephens said of the song, “Apparently 29th Feb is the leap year and tradition has it...the only day women can propose to men!? If you're anything like me (god bless my poor boyfriend) then just write a song about it and release it - then he has to propose. no pressure!”- She continued, “I know it's not the traditional way, but when you love someone that much, I think you'd do anything for them. I met my partner when I was 17, I had absolutely no idea the impact this man would have on both, my life and my heart. I was told I was incapable of being loved and that I was too difficult. He made it easy to love me, makes sure that I feel safe and loved every single day and I couldn't be more thankful to have him in my life.”
She added, “This is a sign. You will find the right person or the right person will find you! So If you don't get down on one knee and ask me to marry you soon... I'm gonna do it myself.” - source : Apple Music
