The Last Dinner Party Performs “Nothing Matters” on The Graham Norton Show
British indie rock band The Last Dinner Party, consisting of Georgia Davies (bass), Lizzie Mayland (guitar), Abigail Morris (vocals), Aurora Nishevci (keyboard) and Emily Roberts (guitar), appeared on The Graham Norton Show to perform “Nothing Matters”.
This marks their musical guest debut on The Graham Norton Show.
The band shared on social media, “In today's episode of really very insane things that are happening to us. GN is very shiny in person, not in a sweaty bad way mind you, more like an ethereal glow. The good witch of talk shows. Anyway thank you for having us The Graham Norton Show.”
The song was released as their debut single on April 19, 2023.
The track was written by Abigail Morris, Aurora Nishevci, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies, Lizzie Mayland, and Rhys Downing. Produced by James Ford.
Originally, the song was written as a ballad of then-current romantic relationship by the band lead singer Abigail Morris.
Abigail Morris said of the song, “I very rarely write love songs - I only write about heartbreak. It's just easier and more dramatic. [But] I was with my boyfriend at the time and I was very happy.”- Also, Georgia Davies told Under the Radar Magazine that she was initially unsure if it would work as a debut.
She said, “It's not 100% indicative of every song we have in our set or the genre, because, well, there isn't one really. It does showcase our maximalist approach.”
Recently, the band won BBC Radio 1's Sound Of Award 2024, and is the first guitar band to win since American rock band Haim in 2013.
In the past, BBC Radio 1's Sound Of Award's winners were Adele, Stormzy, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, HAIM, and PinkPantheress.
In addition to The Graham Norton Show performing, the band appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform the debut song. - source : BBC One
