Mawzy Announces Debut Album “Long View”, Shares New Song “Better Man”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Matthew Cooke, aka Mawzy has announced that his debut album “Long View” will be released on April 10, 2024.
The album comprises a 10-track, where Mawzy recorded with producer Thomas D'Arcy.
From the album, he released the second single called “Better Man” on January 17, 2024.
The track was written by Matthew George Cooke and produced by Thomas D'Arcy.
Matthew Cooke said of the song, “It is a song about striving to do better for those you love. It was written during a tumultuous time in my relationship where my partner and I were having conversations around self-improvement and compromise for the betterment of our relationship. I drew on these conversations when writing the lyrics, recognizing my own shortcomings and declaring my intention to 'do better.' Although the relationship made it through those 'lost' years, it recently came to end. In writing this song I learned that love is delicate and words need to be proven through action. Releasing this song is therapeutic; I'm releasing the love that 'Better Man' was written about.”- The accompanying music video was directed by Bee Pethick.
Matthew Cooke said of the video, “I’m excited to share this beautiful music video directed and edited by Bee Pethick and shot by Bryce Zimmerman. It was captured this past summer on a dreamy weekend in cottage country. Thanks to Sonja Boretski for lending her acting skills and to Katherine Green for assisting on the shoot. Its a pleasure to get make art with friends - a huge thanks to Bee and the team for such a special experience.” -
