Shaylen Releases New Song “Been There Before”
Nashville-based country music singer-songwriter Shaylen released a new song “Been There Before” on January 5, 2024.
The song is the follow-up to “Cowboys Never Cry”, which was released last November.
It was written by Andrew Baylis, Michael Whitworth, Nick Bailey, and Shaylen Lee Carroll. Produced by Ilya Toshinskiy and Andrew Baylis.
The track is about crazy dating stories that girls in their early 20s have experienced.
“I finally got to write the dating anthem for my early 20s,” Shaylen said of the song. “It was an incredible day working with some of my faves – Baylis, Michael and Nick are some of my favorite humans ever and creating this song with them was so fun. We literally just talked about all the crazy dating scenarios you go through as a girl in her early 20s and got to put it in one song. And that's on healing toxic patterns baby!”
- Shaylen spent 10 years in Los Angeles as a pop artist. But she changed her music style to county music with “What If I Don't” in 2022.
Shaylen told Apple Music about “What If I Don't”, “This is the first song I ever wrote in Nashville, and the first song I put out as a country artist and it has changed my life in the last 9 months.”
She explained, “I really am thankful for my time in LA because it taught me so many different writing techniques I've learned over the years that I'm able to apply in my country music. I think being able to be submerged in the different cultures of music has been extremely helpful in how I write and sing all together. It's actually crazy 'cause switching to country music is the first time where I've truly felt like my most authentic true self. In fact, it feels far more clear than pop ever did.”
She added, “By the end of every song I hope listeners can resonate and apply their own stories to the songs and know that they can get through anything.”
