Mati Gavriel Returns With New Song “Someone to Somebody”
Los Angeles/New York-based German-Israeli singer-songwriter Mati Gavriel returned with a new song “Someone to Somebody” alongside a music video on June 21, 2023.
The song is his first music in 15 years since the 2008 self-titled album.
The track features a classical spin on production, utilizing a string quartet and one synth solo instead of samples, 808's, and software synths.
Mati Gavriel said of the song, “The idea behind the song is about relationships between humans, and how love is forever changing and evolving. There is the loving and the wanting to be loved aspect. I felt like there was a universal message in the song and I liked how it can be interpreted in many different ways.”
The track was written by Mathia-Mathithiahu Gavriel and Sheppard Solomon. Produced by Mathia-Mathithiahu Gavriel.
“After months of hard work, dedication, and pouring my heart into this single, I'm so excited to finally share the official version of 'Someone to Somebody' with all of you,” Mati Gavriel said, “This song is very dear to me, and I'm incredibly proud of how it turned out. Releasing art into the world is a vulnerable experience and it took me some time to gather the courage to put my music out there.”
- He continued, “It all began with a collaboration with the talented Sheppard Solomon, renowned for crafting hits for artists like Natalie Imbruglia, One Direction, and Enrique Iglesias. Together, we poured our hearts into writing the song. From there, I meticulously arranged & wrote out the scores, shaping each note to capture the emotion I wanted to convey.”
He added, “I had the privilege of collaborating with the incredible string players Ross Levinson, Hope Easton, and Jon GK. Their talent added a layer of depth and emotion to the song.”
The accompanying video was co-directed by Michael Pessah.
He said of the video, “The vision for the music video came to life with the help of DP and co-director, Michael Pessah. His expertise and creative eye brought the story of “Someone to Somebody” to the screen.”
