  • Dale and the ZDubs Releases New Song “Her Melody” featuring HIRIE

  • Washington-based reggae rock band Dale and the ZDubs, consisting of Dale Rodman (vocals/guitar), Sean Dunnevant (vocals/bass), Mike Candela (electric guitar), Brandon Moultrie (saxophone/ewi), and Miles Lieder (drums), teamed up with Hawaiian singer-songwriter HIRIE to release a new song “Her Melody” on May 12, 2023.

This single celebrates lead singer Dale Rodman's release from a three year prison sentence for a non-violent drug crime.
Inspired by Dale's 2017 to 2020 incarceration for a non-violent drug crime, DZD's recent releases combine a distinct reggae influence intertwined with a hard-hitting rock style to tell raw, ridiculous, and vulnerable stories.
The track was written by Dale Rodman and Patricia Jetton.
It is filled with surf-riding sonics and relatable lyrics that plunge into the depths of human connection.
  • Dale Rodman said of the collaboration with HIRIE, “We met HIRIE in Virginia Beach, VA when we opened for her at Shaka's Live in 2015. This was before HIRIE had taken off like a rocket ship on the East Coast. Her voice, her band, her aesthetic, and her songs virtually hypnotized the 100 some-odd people inside of what used to be an epic smaller club in the heart of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. I loved that room. 🐌🖤”
He continued, “By the time I had gotten out of prison HIRIE was in full bloom. We ended up playing the same day as her at Reggae Rise Up Maryland 2022. I found HIRIE backstage right after she crushed her set, in what looked like 7-inch platform heels. (How the hell does she do that by the way!?) After congratulating her on a killer show I said verbatim, 'Yo Hirie, I got this hook, it NEEDS you on it!'”
