Lewis Capaldi Performs Unreleased Song “Heavenly Kind of State of Mind” at NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi will release his second studio album “Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent” this Friday (May 19).
He appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert ahead of the release of the album.
This time, he performed “Wish You The Best”, “Heavenly Kind of State of Mind” from the upcomig album, and “Before You Go”, “Someone You Loved” from his debut album “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent”.
“I just wanted to take a moment before we start to say - lower your expectations,” Lewis Capaldi told the audience before his Tiny Desk performance.
“Wish You The Best” is his latest single, which was released last month.
Lewis Capaldi said of the song. “It's a song about what we don't say to those people. I was fascinated by the things left unsaid, whether that be in a relationship or a friendship.”
“Heavenly Kind of State of Mind” is the unreleased song and he first ever performed the song.
He joked that he didn't have much to say about the exclusive premiere of the new song, describing it solely as simply being three minutes long.- “Someone You Loved” was released from his debut album in 2018. The song became his first number one single on the UK Singles chart and was the best selling single of 2019 in the UK.
“Before You Go” is featured on the extended edition of the debut album. The song reached No. 1 on the UK Singles chart.
He told Apple Music about the song, “It's about suicide. Not necessarily the act of it, but, like, after it happens, the aftermath of it. And people kind of blaming themselves or starting to think, you know, “What could I have done to help that person?” or whatever. When I was five or six, my aunt committed suicide and I just remember recently speaking to my mom about her feelings. About going through that sort of rigmarole in your head of like, you know, “What could I have done here? Could I have done anything?” - source : NPR
