Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Omnium Gatherum Covers Michael Sembello's “Maniac”
Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum, consisting of Jukka Pelkonen (vocals), Markus Vanhala (guitar), Nick Cordle (guitar), Aapo Koivisto (keyboards), Mikko Kivistö (bass) and Atte Pesonen (drums), will release their upcoming 4-track EP “Slasher” on June 2, 2023 via Century Media Records.
From the EP, the band released a cover of American singer and guitarist Michael Sembello's “Maniac” on April 11, 2023.
The original version of the song was released by Michael Sembello from the 1983 film “Flashdance” soundtrack.
It was written by Dennis Matkosky and Michael Sembello. The cover version was produced by Markus Vanhala.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jari Heino.
The band frontman Jukka Pelkonen said of the song, "This classic pop song is shapeshifting into Omnium Gatherum style of modern melodic death metal blast! Here is something to dance and headbang to in summertime!”
