Adam Lambert Covers Bonnie Tyler's “Holding Out for a Hero”
American singer-songwriter Adam Lambert released a cover of Welsh singer-songwriter Bonnie Tyler's “Holding Out for a Hero” from his upcoming covers album “High Drama” on December 30, 2022.
The song is the third single off of the new album, following “Mad About the Boy” and “Ordinary World”.
The track was written by written By Dean Pitchford and Jim Steinman. Produced by Andrew Wells.
The original version of the song was recorded by Bonnie Tyler for the 1984 film “Footloose” soundtrack.
The film was directed by Herbert Ross, starring Kevin Bacon.
It later featured on her sixth studio album “Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire” in 1986.
The song reached No.2 on the UK Singles chart. Also, the film became the seventh highest-grossing film of 1984.
- The new album “High Drama” comprises 11-track and is set to be released on February 24, 2023.
“The idea came up to do an album of covers, and I haven't done that before,” Adam Lambert said of the album. “I've done that on Idol, obviously. and Queen is essentially sort of a covers situation, even though I'm in the band.”
He continued, “It was like a real nice challenge to go, 'OK, let's find songs' – some are obscure, some are new, some are really well-known – 'that we think are cool, and flip them and make them sound entirely different if we can.'”
He will appear on The National Lottery's Big New Year's Eve Bash on ITV at 8:30pm, New Year's Eve
