Little Fuss Releases New Song “A Modern Olympia”
- American alt-pop duo Little Fuss, consisting of Olivia Martinez and Cody Von Lehmden, released the fourth single called “A Modern Olympia” from their upcoming debut album “Girls At Parties” on November 16, 2022.
The track was written by Olivia Martinez and Cody Von Lehmden. Produced by Cody Von Lehmden and Olivia Martinez.
The accompanying music video created by Little Fuss and Toby Lichtenwalter.
Olympia is one of the nine characters in their cinematic, nine-chapter concept debut album.
The song is named after Paul Cezanne’s “A Modern Olympia”, which was an homage to Édouard Manet’s painting Olympia (1863) that caused a great scandal when it was first exhibited at the 1865 Paris Salon.
The duo wrote the searing commentary in the song about women were either sexualized or villainized based on the opinions of men, not their own intentions.
- “When I read this, I thought about the woman in the painting,” Olivia Martinez told Big Takeover. “Sure, it is only a fictional woman made of nothing but pigmented brushstrokes… but her story was alarmingly relatable, both in the wide scope of women’s history and in the personal life of every woman. Basically women are needed for life, but men in power don’t want to give them control, so they’re exploited instead.”
The debut album is set to be released on January 12, 2023.
