Los Angeles-based Canadian alt-pop singer-songwriter Vibi returned with a new song “Nights Like This” on October 13, 2022.
The song is her first single since “Satellite”, which was released last December.
Vibi said, “I want the experience of listening to my new single to feel like a good cry. While you're in it, it's intense and you might even pity yourself a bit, but by the end of it you feel empowered in owning your feelings.”
She wrote the song during the end of summer 2019. The track was written by Valerie Borghesi (Vibi), Dan Nicoletti, and Graydon Welbourn. Produced by Mike Tompa, Valerie Borghesi, Daniel Nicoletti and Yuri Koller.
“'Nights Like This' was written during the end of summer 2019, when I was commuting two hours to and from Toronto for various co-writing sessions. It had been a whirlwind summer with new friends, a new fling, and very little sleep,” She explained.“On one particular night, the writing session I had booked was canceled due to the producer having a scheduling conflict. I was bummed because I had felt especially compelled to write, so I opened up my laptop and decided to test my production skills.”- She continued, “I wrote 'Nights Like This' in about 30 minutes and sent a bounce to my drummer, Daniel Nicoletti. He loved the idea and asked if he could add some more drums and bass. When he sent back the groove, we knew we had something special. I was heartbroken when I wrote this song, but my muse wasn't a person but rather the feeling of loneliness. This angle felt more empowering than writing a breakup song.”
She added, “I'm so grateful for the journey this song has already taken me on. 'Nights Like This' took me from being created alone in my darkest hour in Toronto to chasing my dreams in Los Angeles. I'm so excited to see it finally out in the world and I hope it reaches the people who need to hear it.” -
