Ashe Teams Up With Diane Keaton for New Song “Love Is Letting Go”
- American singer-songwriter Ashlyn Rae Willson, aka Ashe joined forces with American actress Diane Keaton to release a new song “Love Is Letting Go” on September 23, 2022.
This marks the first collaboration between Ashe and Diane Keaton.
Ashe wrote the song about losing her brother to addiction. She learned that Diane Keaton lost her brother too after reading Diane Keaton's memoir “Brother & Sister”. Then, she invited her to sing on the track.
The track was written by Ashlyn Willson, Stephanie Jones, Leroy Clampitt and Noah Conrad.
Back in 2021, Diane Keaton joined in Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber's music video for “Ghost”. But at that time, she didn't sing and just appeared on the video.
This time, she has been singing with Ashe on the track. It is the first time she has sung on the record.
Ashe said of Diane Keaton, “I've spent the better part of my life idolizing and revering Diane Keaton, watching the choices she made, her career, how she treated people, how she acted in interviews – there's no one like her. Frankly, and I could care less if this sounds dramatic, there isn't an Ashe without a Diane Keaton. Her existence has uniquely shaped me into who I am as an artist and even more so as a person. I might as well be jumping off a cliff when I say 'I have a song coming out with Diane Keaton' I'm not sure if this process will ever feel real for me but what I do know is that when people say 'don't meet your heroes'.. that's true – unless it's Diane Keaton.”
Ashe shared on social media, WHATT?? So, yesterday, i was like sing with me *** and i just got an email saying 'i was talking to *** this morning, and we were discussing your ***** about a duet... *** LOVES THIS IDEA!! *** asked me to reach out to you about it' am i crying? i'm gonna sing a song with ***”
She continued, “What you may know about Diane Keaton, she's an academy award winning actress, a director, the face of the coastal grandmother movement, Justin Bieber's grandma in his video 'gost'. What you may not know, she has sung in several of her movies throughout her career, accepted her AFI lifetime achievement award with a song and for the first time she will be singing on a recorded song with me.”
The song will appear on her upcoming sophomore album “Rae”, which is set to be released on October 14, 2022.
