American rapper Macklemore released a new song “MANIAC” along with a music video on August 19, 2022.
This time, he teamed up with American singer-songwriter Windser on the track.
The song follows up the collaborative song “CHANT” with Australian singer-songwriter Tones And I.
It was written by Tyler Andrews, Jordan Topf, Ben Haggerty, Ryan Lewis, Brian Wall, and Joshua “Budo” Karp. Produced by Budo, Ryan Lewis and Brian Wall.
The accompanying video was directed by Jake Magraw and co-directed by Ben Haggerty.
Macklemore said of the song, “The first time I heard Windser singing the hook on Maniac I fell in love with it. It's infectious and relatable and I couldn't get it out of my head. We've all been in relationships that maybe don't feel healthy all the time, but we still love that person and are dependent and addicted to that love. It's universal. Maniac is that love story.”- Back in 2021, Macklemore opened up about his struggles with addiction. “I didn't even know it was a disease at the beginning, I went for years like 'why can I not f*cking stop, why can I not drink and smoke like my friends,” he said. “Why when I wake up is that the first thing I'm thinking about…' I didn't know that there was a community that was there to support and love me unconditionally that had the same f*cking disease.”
