tendai Premieres New Song “Pressure” on BBC Radio 1
East London-based singer-songwriter tendai has released a new song “Pressure” from his upcoming EP via 0207 Def Jam.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
It was written by Aaron Blake and Simon Tendai Senyange. Producd by Blakey and tendai.
The accompanying music video was directed by Ethan & Tom, who previously collaborated with tendai on his “Infinite Straight” and “Lately” videos.
tendai said of the song, “'Pressure' is me and Blake playing around with different sonics of the r&b music that we know and love. really trying to push the boundary on what textures and feeling can be felt within this kind of genre.”- tendai told Jack Saunders about the lyrics, “I think the lyrics I've never thought of that in terms of how they link with the production because the production to me feels quite free and quite slow. And whereas the lyric is, like you said feeling pressure and feeling away on top of you feeling like you're in a space of confusion and just agonists it's so funny because where that song is so old. It's like three years old. At that point in my writing development. I didn't really it was just like, who is this cool idea in my head boom, let's just write down this, you know, make it into the song as opposed to like, let me get really into the nitty gritty of what I want to say and how I want to say it, but I think that one like I said, it's just about me and my mate Blake just having a bit of fun. I think at the time it must have been about like a girl was saying.”
The new EP comprises 4-track and is expected to be released in 2022. -
