Beabadoobee Premieres New Song “Talk” on BBC Radio 1
- Filipino-British singer-songwriter Beabadoobee premiered a new song “Talk” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Jack Saunders.
The song is the first single off her upcoming sophomore album “Beatopia”, which is set to be released on July 15, 2022.
It was written by Beatrice Laus and Jacob Bugden. The video was directed by Alexandra Leese and Luke Casey.
Beabadoobee said of the song, “I wrote 'Talk' just after my first album. I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time. Generally, it's about doing things that aren't necessarily healthy or great for you but you can't help indulging. It's like that unavoidable feeling that you get, you can't get rid of it and you know it's bad but you love it really and it's whatever, so you do it anyway.”
- She told Jack Saunders about why the album title is called “Beatopia”, “Funny story. So, when I was seven I created a world for Beatopia. And I got obsessed with this alternate universe. I made a massive poster, like, made like came up with the country names and everything. And then I made this poster. I left it in my class. And I went off to do a violin lesson and I came back and everyone was staring at me and they were like, what's wrong with you? And was at what? My teacher was always everything? Why? Like, do you have anything to tell us? And I was like, What do you mean? And he had pinned he'd blue tack the Beatopia poster on the whiteboard for everyone to look at and everyone's laughing and winning. And I just completely forgot about the idea of Beatopia. I was just like, I'm such an idiot. Why did I do that? But then, I feel like I've revisited it and now it's like, I felt like comfortable with Beatopia and the idea of that world.”
