- Nao Premieres New Music Video for “Another Lifetime”
- London-based singer-songwriter Neo Jessica Joshua, aka Nao dropped a new music video for “Another Lifetime” directed by Zhang and Knight.
The song will appear on her as-of-yet untitled sophomore album. Her debut album "For All We Know" was released in 2016 and nominated for Best British Female Solo Artist at Brit Awards.
Recently, she joined in Nile Rodgers and Chic's new song “Boogie All Night” along with Mura Masa as guest vocals.
Nao told The FADER about the song;
"'Another Lifetime' came out of a tumultuous and conflicted period in my life. A long term relationship ended without that closure you get from disliking the other person and it took a very long time to come to terms with that. Finding peace with 'the end' and what that means on a few levels was where the song came from. [Directors] Zhang and Knight translated that emotional concept to film brilliantly but I think their real achievement was telling that story with the right edit and sympathy to the music. It's so easy to translate a personal song in a cheesy way or lose the musicality in the editing but I think they scored top points in every area."
- She said of the song in a statement;
“I was told writing my second album would be tough but so much has happened in my personal life since ‘For All We Know’ the songs just wrote themselves. ‘Another Lifetime’ came right at the end of both the writing process and an emotional process I’d been going through dealing with the breakup of a special long term relationship. Finishing the song felt like the full stop I needed to put on a difficult period of my life, so the next day I was like ‘that’s it, I’ve finished the album and this is the first song I want people to hear from it.'”
