London-based singer-songwriter Dua Lipa appeared on Saturday Night Live, where she performed her smash hit “New Rules” and a piano ballad “Homesick”.
This marks the first time she has been the musical guest on SNL. This time, host is American actress Natalie Portman.
Before performances, the 22-year-old singer tweeted, “I AM THE MUSICAL GUEST ON @NBCSNL ON THE 2ND OF FEB! I have the craziest butterflies rn and I’m nervous just typing this out. A dream come true…someone pinch me!”
“New Rules” was released from her eponymous debut studio album last July. It was written by Caroline Ailin, Emily Warren and Ian Kirkpatrick.
The song reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as its music video has been viewed close to 1 billion times.
“Homesick” is included as the final track from her debut album. The song was written by Dua Lipa and Coldplay's Chris Martin, who performed it as uncredited guest vocals and played the piano. To date, the audio for it has been listened to nearly 2.8 million times on YouTube.
After SNL, she will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on February 13. Also, she resumes "The Self-Titled Tour" North America Leg at Ogden Theatre in Denver on February 5.
