- Taylor Swift Performs Latest Song “New Year's Day” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
- Last week, The Tonight Show's host Jimmy Fallon, whose mother Gloria Fallon died at the age 68 last week. He canceled all of last week. On Monday, he got back to the work.
The Tonight Show's team thought Jimmy's return needed of a special musical guest, they asked Taylor Swift, since she was still in New York City from performing on Saturday night Live over the weekend.
Originally, Taylor Swift wasn't scheduled to appear on this TV. But she knowing how special the situation was going to be for Jimmy Fallon, she said "Yes" quickly.
She performed her latest song "New Year's Day" with the piano on The Tonight Show. It's so emotional and moving.
Tonight Show writer and producer Mike DiCenzo said;
"She was not scheduled to do our show today. But we wanted something special for this first show back, so we asked her on a complete whim, since she had been in town doing SNL. She said yes with zero hesitation. I nearly gasped. Tears. I think everyone in the audience started sobbing. I could see Jimmy silhouetted at his desk dabbing his eyes with a tissue. We all lost it. It was a beautiful coincidence in a beautiful performance."
