Bleecker Street premiered the official trailer for "Disobedience", starring Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams.
The film was directed by Sebastián Lelio, based on the novel of the same name by Naomi Alderman.
Back in September, the film was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"Disobedience" follows a rabbi's lesbian daughter as she returns from New York to her Orthodox Jewish community in Hendon, London.
The novel published for the first time in the UK in March 2006. Naomi Alderman grew up in the Orthodox Jewish community in Hendon before moving to New York, and the novel is about places Alderman is familiar with.
The novel earned Alderman the 2006 Orange Award for New Writers and the 2007 Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award.
The film is set to be released in the US on April 27, 2018. Aslo the film is scheduled to be released in the UK on August 24th.- Synopsis:
The novel is a first-person narrative of Ronit Krushka, a 32-year-old non-practicing Orthodox Jew, who is working in New York as a financial analyst and having an affair with her married male boss. The death of her estranged father, a powerful rabbi, brings Ronit back to her childhood home in Hendon, London, where her provocative ways outrage the local Orthodox Jewish community.
