Mothica Announces New Label Heavy Heart Records, Releases New Version of “Heavy Heart”
- Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Mothica announced that she launched her own record label Heavy Heart Records in partnership with Rise Records and BMG.
Then she re-released “Heavy Heart” as a new version along with music video via her new label.
The song will appear on her upcoming sophomore album “Nocturnal”.
Originally, the song was included on he second EP of the same name, which was released in 2017.
It was written by Mothica and produced by NYDGE. The music video was directed by Mothica herself.
Mothica shared on social media, “I spent a little over 5 years independently releasing music before I had any legit record label interest. I booked my own shows, designed & shipped merch, emailed blogs, went to every industry event, scoured for collaborators, scheduled writing sessions, shot, edited photos and DIY'd everything I could to make music videos with a tiny budget. But then in 2020 (thanks to tiktok), all of a sudden I had a LOT of label interest. Major labels. My dream label. It was EXCITING, but I was so used to doing things my way and quickly I realized I didn't know if I wanted to give up control (or ownership!) of what I had worked so many years to build.”
She continued, “And after many jabbing, painful comments about my virality, numbers, comparisons to other artists, my age… I realized that I didn't want what I thought I wanted. I don't care if I sell out arenas. I don't care if I win a grammy. The only thing that matters to me is making something I'm proud of, sharing my story and helping others do the same.”
She added, “And when I proposed the idea that I wanted to start my own imprint label, I was met with open arms by the team as Rise Records and BMG who fully understood my vision! So the last few months I've been working on this incredible partnership with the most amazing team.”
