- American singer-songwriter Ariana Grande performed “my hair” and “34+35” on VEVO live series, following “pov” and “safety net”.
Two songs are included on her sixth studio album “Positions”, which was released in 2020.
“my hair” was written by Scootie, Ariana Grande, Victoria Monét, Tayla Parx, TBHits, Scott Storch and Tone Jones.
“34+35” was written by Xavi, Victoria Monét, TBHits, Tayla Parx, Mr. Franks, Scott Nicholson, Peter Lee Johnson, Stanaj and Ariana Grande.
The live videos were directed by Micah Bickham.
The performance of “my hair” has a jazzy feel, amplifying the breezy vibe that was established on her latest album.
Especially her her impossible-sounding whistle tones like Mariah Carey and a jazzy trumpet solo.
Ariana Grande said of “34+35”, “So for the longest time everyone thought '34+35' was obviously gonna be the first single, that was like a known thing, like my team, my friends, everyone was kind of like looking forward to 34+35 being the lead and I was like driving to Tommy's one day to finish one of the records, I don't remember which one it was, but I was driving over and I was listening to everything and I remember the moment where I was like 'Oh, positions is really challenging 34+35, in like a big way'. And this is tonally what I want to set the pace for the album with I think, just like, it just felt more grown and more, like more of an accurate representation of what was to come. So I remember that day and I remember telling everyone and everyone looking at me like I was a little bit crazy, except Tommy and Ray, Ray was always team 'positions', but everyone else was kinda like “We gotta talk her out of this” and um, they didn't.”
