Methyl Ethel Announces Signing To Future Classic, Shares New Song “Neon Cheap”
- Australian alt-rock band Methyl Ethel announced that they joined in a new label, Future Classic.
The label's CEO and founder Nathan McLay said, “Methyl Ethel is an iconic part of the Australian music landscape. We're delighted to be working with Jake in this vital period of his art practice.”
The band released a first song “Neon Cheap” under the new label on April 16, 2021.
The song was written last year when their tour in support of the 2020 EP “Hurts To Laugh” were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The band frontman Jake Webb explained, “Picture yourself scrolling, mind-numbingly at 3am. Now, instead of scrolling, you're traipsing some Vegas-like strip. All the events and people you'd normally read about are there as you walk around, inoculated, casually observing. For me, this is 'Neon Cheap'”
The accompanying music video was directed by Tay Kaka.
