CARYS Shares Debut EP “To Anyone Like Me”: Streaming
- Back in October 2020, Canadian singer-songwriter Aviva Mongillo, aka CARYS released her debut EP “To Anyone Like Me” via Warner Music Canada.
It is her first EP under major label as CARYS. In 2017, she released the first EP “Songs About Boys” as Aviva.
The EP comprises of 6-track, including the “Princesses Don't Cry”, which blew up on TikTok in 2019. Produced by Gustav Nyström, Joel Stouffer and Ryan Stewart. She recorded at The WineCellar Studio.
“I was writing the songs for this EP with the intention to get out how I had been feeling about all the parts of my life I was ready to let go of and the resistance to letting go,” CARYS said. “Most of this album was written in a period of a lot of self-reflection and growth. The need for validation, people-pleasing, romanticising the past, fearing the future. To Anyone Like Me represents the different stages of healing and the complicated journey of beginning to recognize our inherent worth.”
- She shared on social media, “I'm so proud to share this EP with you. I think it's badass. I love to make music because of what music has led me to discover. That there's more. More within us, more within others, more within space that we just do not understand. How does wiggly air make me cry? How does it heal my pain? How come finding a certain sound can make strangers in a room feel so connected? Maybe it's science, maybe it's something about nostalgia but it feels like true magic to me. I am so grateful to be able to create it and to have the support that I do in bringing it to life. It would not have been possible without my incredible team.”
