Toronto based singer-songwriters Sia Shells and Ekelle teamed up to release a new song “Magic Girl”.
This marks the first collaboration between Sia Shells and Ekelle. The song follows up “Super Saiyan”, which was released last March.
The pair has already shot the music video for the song, which iil be premiered early March.
Sia Shells said, “We want people to walk away feeling inspired, empowered to achieve their best selves! When we were writing the lyrics, we really wanted it to act as a musical BFF hyping you up, a catchy cheerleader you can put on whenever you need a little pick me up!”
Ekelle said, “...mental health was a huge theme for 2020 so we just wanted to remind the ladies out there to keep their heads up. You will attract bigger and better opportunities, it will all be okay because you'll make it that way - you are magic!”- Sia Shells explained of the song, “Magical Girl is a sub-genre of anime where young girls have these amazing powers to solve their problems and get through life, and you'll hear adorable anime inspired loops and samples throughout the song. Magical Girls usually have a badass squad to help them through the really tough bits, like Sailor Moon and the other scouts. An ode to girl power and a testament to our friendship, Ekelle and I are definitely there for each other no matter what.”
