Carrie Underwood & John Legend Share New Music Video for “Hallelujah”
- Back in September, American country music singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood released her first Christmas album “My Gift”.
The album comprises of 11-track, including a mix of traditional Christmas songs, as well as original songs.
Carrie Underwood said, “Now more than ever, we all need to focus on what Christmas is about, rely more on our family. And even though it has been a tough year, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can come in the worst time, the most stressful time. And it makes you more thankful for things you do have.”
From the album, she dropped a new music video for “Hallelujah” directed by Randee St. Nicholas on November 20th. She teamed up with American singer-songwriter John Legend for the song.
The track was written by Toby Gad and John Legend.
Carrie Underwood said of this collaboration, “I was deep into making the album, and this one kind of came in. He [Legend] sent it to us kind of at the end. It was like, 'Well, I love the song. I feel like this is a puzzle piece I didn't know was missing, but now that I've heard it, I have to have it. And so we just put the ask back, 'Thank you for sending, do you want to sing a part with me, too?'”
Both artists will perform the song on “Underwood's My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood”, premiering December 3rd on HBO Max. Tom Hanks' Playtone will produce the special.
“The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year,” she said. “Creating this album has been good for my heart, and I'm thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”
