Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Kodaline Releases New Christmas Song “This Must Be Christmas”
Irish rock band Kodaline released their fourth studio album “One Day at a Time” deluxe edition on November 20th.
The deluxe edition comprises of 14-track, including one remix featuring Gabrielle Aplin, and three new songs.
From the album, the band released a new Christmas song “This Must Be Christmas”. It was written by Vincent May, Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Jon Maguire, Jason Boland and Corey Sanders.
The music video for the song will be premiered on November 25th.
The band said, “We've always wanted to write a Christmas song but we never actually got around to doing it until now. We're excited to share 'This Must Be Christmas' with you. I suppose the song was influenced by The Pogues 'Fairytale Of New York', it's kind of an anti Christmas song about drowning your sorrows in the pub on Christmas. Anyway we hope you enjoy it.”
The band told Wonderland Magazine, “That's kind of what I was touching on above when I was said I didn't want it to be cheesy. For me when it comes to song writing I've always believed that there's a very fine line between cheesy and cool. We wanted to make a Christmas song that had a bit of depth to it and we wanted it to be a bit dark lyrically. We're proud of the song and hope people like it.”
The band will embark on their headline tour across the UK and Ireland in 2021. The tour kicks off at Academy in Oxford on May 17, 2021.
