Miley Cyrus & Stevie Nicks Release New Remix for “Midnight Sky (Edge of Midnight)”
American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus teamed up with former Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks to release a new remix of “Midnight Sky” on November 6th.
The original version of the song was released by Miley Cyrus back in August. The song sampled Stevie Nicks' 1982 “Edge Of Seventeen” from her debut solo album “Bella Donna”.
At that time, she said, “It's called “Midnight Sky”. Even just the title is inspired by Debbie Harry's “Heart of Glass”, but I pulled inspiration from “Edge of Seventeen”, two of my favorite songs. “Heart of Glass”, the reason I love it so much, is that the title isn't the repetition in the chorus, it's just a cool thing to say, it's not the chorus at all. And so I thought, you know, my favorite part of it is I love the kind of visual painting of midnight sky and what that means. And the midnight sky for me is like if you're fucking partying, the moon is a disco ball and the stars are all the reflection of light on the ceiling. What I really like about the disco ball is that it's a bunch of broken pieces put back together again, that when you're finally enlightened, it makes us mesmorizing, totally gets you tractive, it's like people, you know, it's like the bugs to the light, people really love disco balls, but it's really just a bunch of broken pieces put together, and so I felt like that was reflective of me.”
But this time, Stevie Nicks joined in the remix of the song. “Stevie Nicks has always been my idol & an inspiration. It's an honor to now call her my friend and collaborator,” Miley Cyrus wrote on Instagram. Stevie Nicks posted, “Miley…Magical! Loved singing with her!”
“Midnight Sky” will appear on her upcoming seventh studio album “Plastic Hearts”, which is set to be released on November 27th.- source : Pitchfork
