CLAVVS Shares New Music Video for “Half Moon”
- Brooklyn-based alt-pop duo CLAVVS, consisting of Amber Renee and Graham Marsh, has shared a new music video for “Half Moon” directed by Julia Ngeow .
The track will appear on their upcoming deluxe edition EP “No Saviors”, which is out on February 25th.
Amber Renee explained about the clip, “Half Moon” is about the hope of returning to lost love and the cycle of that never-ending dance. In the same way that the moon disappears just to reappear, this song is about that perpetual movement of feeling— joy into pain, loss into love. For the video, we wanted to express that circular pattern through a dance narrative.” She added, “I’m bisexual, and since that part of my identity often gets erased, I chose to feature two female dancers as a way to make space for that part of myself. This song and its story also have a strong feminine quality to me, and the dancers, Matilda Sakamoto and Eloise Deluca, captured that feeling with such tenderness and urgency. It’s a story about forgiveness and redemption. Ultimately, love is a dance we all do over and over again, whether with our partners or with ourselves.”
- Originally, the EP “No Saviors” was released last March, composing of 6-track. This time, the duo added four new track.
“We wanted to push ourselves to bring some joy to these songs,” Graham Marsh said. “I started playing bongos in our live show, which inspired me to take a much more organic approach to recording and playing in the studio.”
“I feel more joyful. I feel more free in a lot of ways,” Amber Renee said. “For the first time since we started the band, I don’t have to run off to a restaurant job between recording sessions and rehearsals. That feels good. It’s a privilege to be able to focus more of my energy on making songs. I'll never take that for granted.”
“Having that freedom now to work on CLAVVS full-time has really led to the growth of our sound,” he added.
