  • Benson Boone Performs “Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else” & “Mystical Magical” on Saturday Night Live

  • American singer-songwriter Benson Boone appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform “Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else” and “Mystical Magical”.

This marks his musical guest debut on Saturday Night Live.
Both songs will appear on his upcoming sophomore album “American Heart”, which is set to be released on June 20, 2025 via Night Street and Warner Records.
The new album comprises 10 tracks, produced by Jason Evigan, Malay, and Evan Blair.
“Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else” was released as the first single from the album back in February.
The song reached No. 21 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 34 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
It was written by Benson Boone, Jack LaFrantz, and Jason Evigan, who also produced the track.
  • Benson Boone told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about the song, “Honestly, the day that we wrote this song, I was having a pretty weird day. I was in in my head a little bit and emotional and I just walked in and I wrote it with Jack LaFrantz and the producer Jason Evan and I was just kind of talking him through my mood and I was feeling weird and I didn't want to bring that into the studio, like I didn't want to just have a day where we're all just kind of silking and sad and so I was like 'Let's make something out of it,' and when we when I first started writing that chorus like, 'I'm sorry I'm here for someone else,' on the piano it was really soft and slow, it was very slow down. Jason, he's got like a bunch of synths and piano and keyboards everywhere and he's like, 'Dude, this is going to be a sad day,' and I remember he said that and after that I was like, 'No, no, no, no,' and I walked over to a synth and I started playing it on the synth and I did it double time and Jack was like, 'Okay, that's sick, try singing it over that,' and we sung it over that a couple times and then we just moved on to the verse and like just started riffing. Writing everything on a piano definitely takes things a little slower and softer and sadder and it ended up being a really fun day at the end of it where we were all just like throwing in ad-libs and messing around and just throwing lyrics at the wall and enjoying ourselves. It just really turned the day around, so for me like that that song definitely kind of did a little 180 and turned into something that, in my opinion, is really like fun energy and a good vibe.”

  • “Mystical Magical” was released last month as the second single from the album.
The track was written by Benson Boone, Jack LaFrantz, Steve Kipner, Terry Shaddick, and Evan Blair, who also produced it.
He first performed the song at Coachella 2025 in Indio, California, where he also performed “Beautiful Things” alongside Queen's Brian May.

Benson Boone said of performing the song at Coachella 2025, “This show is by far and easily the biggest production I have ever been a part of. The work, dedication, and time to build and see out something like this is near unfathomable. So many people are behind the scenes making this dream happen. I am so proud to have been a part of this show. Brian May I have no words. You are easily one of the most legendary musicians of all time and I cannot thank you enough for coming out.”
